Preparing U for the Future
The Athletics department assumes an active role in the NCAA student Athlete Affairs/Life Skills program, which prepares student-athletes for the challenges of life beyond the playing field and to provide balance in their life. This program is designed to provide student-athletes with the skills and experience necessary to maximize thier leadership potential while a student-athlete, and to take those characteristics with them as they pursue a productive life after college sports. The program focuses on the individual as a whole, specifically emphasizing the academic, athletic and personal development throughout their years as a student athlete in preparation for life after college. The five basic tenants of the Life Skills program are Personal Development, Career Development, Commitment to Athletics Excellence, Community Outreach and Academic Excellence. Coaches and administrators are expected to support the efforts as appropriate.
