Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham earned his 100th career victory (100-47), becoming the 24th active FBS head coach with 100 career victories. His first win came in the Fiesta Bowl in 2004 as co-head coach with Urban Meyer with his first regular-season win coming against Arizona to open the 2005 season. He has participated in 185 wins as a member of the Utah staff dating back to his days as an assistant coach with the Utes (23rd year overall).

Attendance is 45,917, the 42nd-straight sellout at Rice-Eccles Stadium going back to the 2010 season opener. Of those sellouts, 39 have been standing room-only crowds.
 Troy Williams had his fifth 200-yard passing game of the season and in his career (245 yards), going 13-for-29 with one touchdown pass. He had a season-long 69-yard completion. Williams also had his second and third rushing touchdowns of the season on runs of two and one yards.
 Evan Moeai led Utah in receiving with three catches for a career-high 81 yards. Â
 Cory Butler-Byrd (69 yards, 1 catch) had a career-high receiving yards. Butler-Byrd's 69-yard reception from Troy Williams was Utah's longest pass play of the season. Butler-Byrd also had three kick returns for 86 yards and led Utah with 153 all-purpose yards.
 Tyrone Smith scored his first career touchdown on a three-yard reception in the second quarter. He had three catches for 14 yards.
 Armand Shyne scored his team-leading fourth rushing touchdown of the season in the third quarter on a 26-yard run. In his first career start the sophomore led Utah with a career-high 101 rushing yards, marking his first 100-yard rushing game (19 carries).

Sophomore Chase Hansen led Utah with nine total tackles (1.0 TFL). Hunter Dimick and Filipo Mokofisi each had eight tackles.

The Utes had three interceptions in the night. Brian Allen recorded his second interception in as many games in the second quarter (also his season totals). He has three career picks. Marcus Williams recorded his third interception of the season in the third quarter. It was his ninth career pick. Dominique Hatfield recorded his first interception of the year in the third quarter (sixth career).
 Mitch Wishnowsky downed five of his six punts inside the 20-yard line with four punts of 50+ yards (300 yards, 50.0 average). Three of his punts were at or inside the five-yard line (5, 2, 1).
 Andy Phillips went 2-for-2 in field goals with a 28-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter. He is 9-of-11 in field goals this season.
