Utes Unveil Designer Helmets at USC Blackout Game

SALT LAKE CITY—For tonight's blackout game against USC, the Utes are debuting new designer black helmets. An artist individually hand-painted each helmet and no two helmets are exactly alike. The helmets reflect a granite texture and each has its own unique serial number painted on it.
The design was conceived by Utah director of equipment operations Kelly Sharitt and his assistant Cody Heidbreder and the helmets will work with any Utah uniform combination.Â
The helmets were made possible through a generous donation by Dave and Julie Layton of Layton Construction.
