Utes post cumulative 3.15 GPA, 21st-straight semester over 3.0
SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah student-athletes combined to post a 3.15 grade-point-average for the 2016 fall term to extend the current school-record streak to 21 consecutive semesters with an overall GPA above a 3.0.
Nearly two-thirds (62.67%) of all Utah student-athletes qualified for the Athletic Director's Honor Roll while more than one-third (34.10%) were named to the Dean's List, which requires at least a 3.5 GPA.
The women's ski team turned in the highest GPA in the department at 3.76 and was closely followed by soccer (3.61). These are new semester highs for both programs and women's skiing had every student-athlete earn Athletic Director's Honor Roll status.
The women's ski team placed 75-percent of its members on the Dean's List, the highest percentage in the department, while the football team had the most Dean's List (24) and Athletic Director's Honor Roll (55) honorees.
Men's tennis raised its respective GPA by almost six percentage points from the spring of 2016, largest in the department, while golf, baseball, women's skiing, soccer, women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, football and volleyball also saw increases.
Men's tennis also had the biggest jump for the full academic year by more than nine percentage points. Other increases were seen with football, soccer, women's swimming and diving, baseball, women's basketball, men's swimming and diving, women's skiing, golf, volleyball, men's basketball and track and field.
