Assistant cross country ski coach Josh Smullin will join the team for the 2006 campaign after being a four-year letterwinner at the University of Colorado. This will be his first-year coaching and is expected to bring his expertise as a multiple time All-American at Mountain View High School.
While at Colorado, he finished third in the 20-km freestyle at the Denver Invite and 13th in the 20-km FS at the 2002 NCAA Skiing Championships. He was also the recipient of the Athlete's Choice award by Colorado University Sports People of the Year (CUSPY) in '03. The Bend, Oregon, native was also a multiple time Academic All-American and dean's list honoree.
He comes to the team after graduating from Colorado with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and psychology, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in sport and exercise psychology at the U.
"I feel very lucky and honored to have the chance to coach such a talented group of athletes and work with such a great staff," says Smullin. "We will all work very hard to bring home the National Championships this year."
