STEAMBOAT, Colo. - Utah freshman Miles Havlick earned All-America honors in the 10-km classic race to lead the Utes on the second day of the NCAA skiing championships. Utah fell to fourth overall in the team standings.

Havlick finished eighth with a time of 30:09.3. It was his fourth top-10 finish of the season.

Martin Liljemark placed 16th in his first NCAA race with a time of 30:47.1 followed closely by Didrik Smith in 17th with a time of 30:47.4.

In the women's 5-km classic race, Zoe Roy paced the way with a 27th-place run in 18:48.0. Rose Kemp (34th, 19:36.3) and Sarah MacCarthy (35th, 19:38.6) also finished for the Utes.

Wax selection was difficult for all the teams due to the recent snowfall and warm weather.

Denver continues to lead the overall standings with 420 points, but Colorado (351) and New Mexico (319) jumped into second and third, respectively. Utah is third with 300.5 points followed by Vermont in fifth with 287.5 points.

Racing continues on Friday with the alpine slalom races which are the only races held at night. The men's slalom first run begins at 6:15 p.m. MT.
