Utah Ski Team Celebrates Successful Semester in Classroom

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah ski team posted an impressive performance in the classroom during the 2010 Fall Semester. The men's and women's squads combined for a 3.60 grade point average as the women's team boasted the highest GPA in the athletic department, 3.712, and the men's team was not far behind with a 3.48 mark.

Jamie DuPratt, Maria Grafnings, Eva Huckova, Rose Kemp, Marta Larsen, Sarah MacCarthy, Mali Noyes, Tii-Maria Romar, Zoe Roy, Sofia Smith and Madeleine Talkington of the women's team were named to the Dean's List, earning a 3.5 GPA or better. Anna Kocken, Parker Tyler and Julia Wong joined the aforementioned group on the Athletics Academic Honor Roll.

Academic success was not limited to the women's team as Ian Havlick, Miles Havlick, Torjus Krogdahl and Thomas Smith of the Utah men's squad earned Dean's List recognition as well. Nick Cohee, Jeremy Elliot, Rolf Figi, Eian Sandvik, Charles Smith, Didrik Smith and Ryan Wilson were also honored on the Athletics Academic Honor Roll.

 

 

"This was an outstanding semester for us," Utah Director of Skiing Kevin Sweeney said. "I feel the team is extremely motivated on and off the race course. I am very proud of this accomplishment and I congratulate the student-athletes on their efforts."
