SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah freshman Henning Dybendal has been named RMISA Skier of the Week after an incredible performance at the Nevada Invitational last week at the Auburn Ski Club.
"Henning had a fantastic weekend at the Nevada Invite," said Head Coach Kevin Sweeney. "It was great to see him skiing to his potential and he is definitely on the top of his game. He is a great team leader and we are looking forward to him continuing to have strong performances throughout the season."
The Skotselv, Norway, native skied to a first-place finish in the 20-km classical with a two-run time of 52:18.6. The junior added a second-place mark in the 15-km freestyle with a time of 23:59.5.
Prior to coming to Utah, Henning finished fourth in the 15-km classical event at the 2003 Scandinavian Cup and placed 10th in the 30-km CL at the 2003 Norwegian Cup. He also competed at the Holmenkollen World Cup in '03. Henning finished first in the men's relay at the Norwegian Junior Championships in 1999.
Henning is son of Roar and Solveig Dybendal and is majoring in computer science.
