SALT LAKE CITY - Utah All-American skier Sloan Storey recently competed in the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships in Trentino, Italy, at Val di Fiemme.
Storey competed in four events in Italy. In the skiathlon 5-km classic + 5-km free she finished 39th. Storey was 43rd in the 5-km classical race while coming in 54th in the 1.2-km sprint free race.
In the junior relay classical/free 4x3.3-km, Storey helped the U.S. finish 12th.
"I had an amazing time in Italy at World Juniors!" said Storey. "I was able to train more at the training camp in Toblach then I would have been able to in Salt Lake (because of school), which I think will help my overall performance throughout the rest of the season, not to mention it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I had such an amazing time exploring Italy with such great teammates and coaches and I felt so lucky to be racing at such a high level of competition with some of the best junior women in the world! I was able to throw down a top 40 (39th) result in the 10-km skiathlon which I was pretty happy about. I'm excited with how the trip went but now I am even more excited to return to the Ute ski team to compete in New Mexico, Regionals in Vail, and then hopefully NCAA on our home turf at SoHo."
