SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah ski team resumes its schedule after a week off with the Nevada Invitational, Feb. 19-21. The Wolf Pack will also host a RMISA alpine qualifier over the weekend.
Alpine races will be held at Sugar Bowl and Northstar while the Nordic races compete at Auburn Ski Club.
The alpine team spent last weekend skiing in some local FIS races. Nick Cohee finished third at a Park City giant slalom race with a fourth-place GS run at Snowbasin. Kyle Kung had a second-place finish and Torjus Krogdahl placed 7th at Snowbasin in the giant slalom. For the women, Anna Kocken finished sixth in the slalom at Jackson Hole, Wyo.
The Nordic team has spent time resting and training. They only took a few skiers to the last meet at New Mexico with the hopes of maximizing potential for the final races.
The Utes have finished fourth at all four meets this season.
"We're excited for this trip," Director of Skiing Eli Brown said. "The terrain is similar to what we will face at the NCAA Championships. We haven't been at full strength this year for various reasons, and I've been ok with our finishes because of that. Now we need to turn the tables and start pulling the group together. Everyone is healthy and fired up. There are several skiers who have not been racing to their true potential and there are plenty of skiers who will start skiing better. It's been our plan all along to peak towards the end of the season and anything is possible."
