WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Utah senior skier Miles Havlick and senior women's basketball player Rachel Messer have been named as 2012-13 Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal Winners.

The Tom Hansen Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

Havlick won two national titles with the Utes, claiming the 2013 20-km freestyle and the 2012 20-km classical titles. He concludes his career as a seven-time All-American. Havlick won seven races in 2013 and 13 total during his career and finished third or better in 28 career races. He was named Ski Racing Magazine's Nordic Collegiate Skier of the Year the last three seasons.

Messer played in all 139 games during her four-year career, making 96 starts. She was a strong three-point shooter for Utah and finishes her career 10th all-time at Utah in both three-point field goals made (138) and three-point field goals attempted (381). Messer was a three-time academic all-conference player and was recently awarded a Pac-12 Postgraduate Scholarship.
