Utah Swim Team Makes Grade
The University of Utah swim team was accorded Academic All-America honors by the College Swim Coaches Association of America. Utah's 3.01 team grade point average during the winter and spring quarters ranked 23rd in the nation.
Utah Swim Coaches Promoted
Dennis Tesch, who has been head men's swim coach at the University of Utah for the past four years, has been promoted to swimming director. Tesch will now direct both the men's and women's swimming and diving programs at the U. The 1995 Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Tesch compled a 26-9 record and won WAC titles from 1994-95. He is a former WAC freestyle champion and swam for four WAC championship teams. He has hired two U. part-time assistants full time. Stacy Tobey, the No. 1 women's assistant last year, will now assist with both teams. The former Stacy Weidauer was an all-WAC swimmer for Utah from 1987-91. Scott Smid returns to the U. after serving as a graduate assistant from 1994-96. He swam collegiately at Wisconsin.
