FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The University of Utah women’s swimming & diving team ended day two of the Pac-12 Conference Championships at the King County Aquatic Center in eighth place with a total of 110 points.

Junior Traycie Swartz and junior Nicole Ligeza headed the Utes in day two as both athletes recorded NCAA ‘B’ qualifying times.

Swartz earned the mark in the 50 free with a finals time of 22.81, placing her 16th. Ligeza reached the mark with a 2:00.31 touch in the 200 IM finals, taking 17th overall.

Junior Samantha Zuch contributed a 27th-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:52.35.

Swartz, sophomore Maddie Jamora, sophomore Giuliana Gigliotti and Zuch teamed up for 10th place in the 200 free relay (1:32.63).

On the boards, sophomore Kersten Merry collected 225.35 points for 18th place in the 3-meter dive. 

Stanford leads the way in the meet with 394.5 points.

The men’s 1-meter dive competition was also held as senior Brandon Stoppelmoor led the Utah men’s diving team, finishing ninth with 311.80 points.

Freshman Josiah Purss finished just shy of his teammate, recording 311.75 points and taking 10th. Caleb Herrick finished 14th (283.25 points) and Nelson Foo was 15th (278.85). Jacob Crayne rounded out the Ute effort with a 17th-place finish (270.80).


 

 

The meet at King County Aquatic Center resumes tomorrow at 11 a.m. PT with the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast and 100 back preliminaries. The finals begin at 6 p.m. PT and will include the 400 medley relay.
