Men and Women Dives Day One Get Acrobat Reader

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The Utah diving team was led by a pair of top-10 efforts in the three meter dives from Josiah Purss and Jacob Crayne after day one at the NCAA Zone Championships at the Cadet Natatorium. 

 Last year's NCAA Championships qualifier Purss took sixth in the three meter dives with a combined score of 745.05. Jacob Crayne took eighth in the dives with a score of 707.30, coming out strong in the final round after standing 15th after the preliminary round. Caleb Herrick also reached the finals, taking 18th (579.85). 

In the women's one-meter dives, Kersten Merry took 18th with a score of 497.80. Merry was eighth after the preliminary round. Amanda Casillas finished in 34th (231.70) and Haley Blount was in 44th (221.30).

The Utes continue competition tomorrow with the goal of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. The women's 3 meter prelims begin at 11 a.m. MT with finals at 2:00 p.m. Prelims for the men's one meter dives begin at 5 p.m. with finals beginning at 6:45 p.m.
