The University of Utah women's team defeated UC San Diego 194-106 to start the season with a win.

SAN DIEGO - The University of Utah women's swimming and diving team defeated UC San Diego to earn its first win of the season Friday. Utah improves to 1-0 on the season, while UC San Diego falls to 0-2. Utah finished first in 12 of the 16 events to beat the Tritons 194-106.
In the 200 medley relay, the team of Leah Jensen, Ariane Kich, Michelle Blair and Amy Barefield took top honors with a time of 1:48.15. In the 1000 free, Utah claimed the top three spots with Rachael Curci (10:17.67) finishing first and Loren Sweny (10:35.35) and Meghan Fleisch (10:53.03) finishing second and third respectively.
Alison McInturff finished with a time of 1:54.72 and Marta Stepanczuk finished with a time of 1:54.89 in the 200 free to place first and second respectively. In the 100 back, Jensen (59.78), Jamie Trapp (59.83) and Marissa Martin (1:00.15) finished first, second and third respectively for the Utes.
Blair finished first in the 200 fly and 100 fly with times of 2:06.12 and 57.47 respectively, while McInturff took top honors in the 100 free (53.41). In the 200 back, Martin (2:06.02) and Sweny (2:10.28) finished first and second, while Stepanczuk (4:59.66) and Curci (5:06.54) finished first and second respectively in the 500 free.
In the 200 IM, Utah claimed the top three spots, with Trapp (2:07.82), McInturff (2:09.08) and Adrienne Coburn (2:11.23) finishing first, second and third.
