Knoxville, Tenn. - Three school records highlighted the second day for Utah swimming at the USA Short Course Nationals.
Fernandes finished 11th in the 100 fly (third in the consolation final) in 47.08, his best time of the year, an NCAA B standard as well as a school record.
The 200 medley relay team of Alex Fernandes, Ken Tiltges, Kron and Soedel finished ninth overall, winning the consolation final in 1:27.91.
Bence Kiraly took seventh in the men's 200 free consolation final finishing 15th overall. He swam his best time of the year in the prelims (1:36.36). Jonas Holmstrom took 23rd in the event, also swimming his best time of the year in the prelims (1:37.56). Both times were NCAA B standards.
Traycie Swartz took eighth in the 100 back in the consolation final (53.70), for 16th overall.
Tiltges placed 16th in the 100 breast in 54.46, his best time of the year and an NCAA B standard.
Finishing out the second day, the men are tied for 19th with the women still in eleventh.
In preliminary sessions, Kron took fifth in the men's 400 IM with a time of 3:48.30, his best time of the year.
Competition will continue tomorrow with preliminary sessions beginning at 9 a.m. ET and final sessions will start at 6 p.m. ET. Final day of competition is Saturday.
