SAN ANTONIO, TEX. - As the final day of the Incarnate Word Invitational concluded, the Utah swimming and diving team posted some impressive performances against some tough competition as two Utes set new personal records.

Major Robinson swam the 200 back in 1:51.05 to earn seventh place in the final heat.

Five of the eight top spots in the 100 free finals were awarded to Utah men with Nick Soedel leading his teammates in the runner-up spot (44.50). Soedel managed to break his second personal record of the meet with a time of 44.49 in the preliminary round. Immediately following Soedel was Bjorn Gunnarsson with a third-place finish (45.75), while Ken Tiltges and Winter Heaven took the five and six spots (45.99 and 46.23). Eric Murray rounded out the top-eight with a time of 47.33.

In the 200 breast, Karson Applin snagged third place (2:05.60), while Corey Williams finished in seventh (2:08.89).

Applin, Soedel, Gunnarsson and Tiltges teamed up for the final event and took first in the 400 free relay (2:59.44). Teammates Heaven, Alex Brown, Andy Lamb and Robinson followed with a fifth-place finish (3:05.97).

Danielle Caldwell touched in a time of 2:02.70 in the 200 back to shave 0.15 seconds off her previous personal record. Cox followed with an eighth-place finish in the event (2:08.57).



Traycie Swartz touched in a time of 50.32 in the 100 free to earn herself second-place while Samantha Zuch came in seventh (52.88).

Other notable Ute women's performances include Hannah Caron's fourth-place finish in the 200 fly (2:04.50) and Nicole Ligeza's seventh-place award in the 200 breast (2:23.48).

The Utes will take on Arizona State on Jan. 7 at Ute Natatorium at 11 a.m.
