SALT LAKE CITY- After a victory at home against Arizona State, Utah women’s swimming and diving will travel to Los Angeles to compete against two top teams in the country. On Friday, the Utes will swim against USC at the McDonald’s Stadium at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the women will compete against UCLA at the Spieker Aquatics Center at 11 a.m. Utah women’s diving will be competing in the UCLA Diving Invitational from Jan. 10-12. The meet against UCLA will be televised on the Pac-12 network.

“This weekend will be our toughest challenge of the year so far as we travel to the #5 and #16 teams in the country.  USC and UCLA are excellent programs and perennial powerhouses in the Pac-12 and NCAA.  It will be a great opportunity for our women to try and step up their game and measure ourselves against some of the very best,” said Utah head coach Joe Dykstra.

“This meet will be a great measuring stick for where we are at in the Pac-12 and within our zone. The meet format is the same as it will be for our NCAA zone meet so the experience of diving in a meet like this is invaluable,” said Utah diving coach Richard Marschner.

The Utah women are ranked 22nd in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll. Last time out against Arizona State, Stina Colleou, Petra Soininen and Traycie Swartz each won a pair of races for the Utes.

The USC women’s squad is ranked fifth in the latest CSCAA rankings. They also have nine returning All-Americans. UCLA’s women’s squad is ranked 16th in the most recent CSCAA rankings. At the Texas Invitational, UCLA had 31 NCAA “B” qualifying times.
