SALT LAKE CITY- Utah women’s swimming and diving has four swimmers who have been invited to swim at the NCAA Championships on March 20-22 in Minneapolis. Freshman Stina Colleou and senior trio Traycie Swartz, Nicole Ligeza and Sami Zuch have all received invitations
This will be three of the four swimmers first time going to the meet. Swartz who went in 2012.
The swimmers will swim their invited events as well as all their NCAA B cut times that they have achieved. Colleou was invited in the 100 breast (1:00.71) as well as the 200 breast (2:09.07). Swartz was invited in the 50 free (22.15) and the 100 free (48.24). Ligeza was invited in the 100 breast (1:00.71) while Zuch was invited in the 1650 free (16:19.30).
Since the Utes have four qualified swimmers, they will be able to enter relays with NCAA B cut times. Swimming in the relays for the Utes will be Amanda Barrett, Maryssa McArthur, Petra Soininen and Giuliana Gigliotti.
In her first year swimming at Utah, Colleou, who is from Oslo, Norway, has broken the school record in the 200 breast and her time in the third-fastest in the Pac-12. Her 100 breast time is the 7th-fastest time in the Pac-12.
Swartz has broken two school records this year in the 50 free and the 100 free. She has the fifth-fastest time in the Pac-12 in the 50 free and in the 100 free, her time is the eighth-fastest in the Pac-12. She as the 17th fastest time in 100 free in the NCAA.
Ligeza has the 32nd-fastest time in the NCAA in the 100 breast. Her time is the fifth-fastest time in the Pac-12 and is a school record as well.
Zuch is the Utes team co-captain for the 2013-14 season. Her time in the 1,650 free is a Ute school record and is the sixth-fastest time in the Pac-12. In the NCAA, she has the 38th fastest time in the event.
