SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah swimming & diving team members, sophomore Nick Soedel and freshman Kristian Kron, earned the privilege to compete at the NCAA Men's Championships in Indianapolis on Mar. 28-30, the NCAA Selection Committee announced Wednesday.

"We are very excited for Nick and Kristian to be participating at this year's NCAA Championships," Utah's Interim Head Swim coach James Winchester said. "The hard work is paying off and we are looking forward to seeing them do great things in Indianapolis."

Soedel, a sophomore from Huntington Beach, Calif., will swim in all three sprint freestyle events.

Soedel currently sits 15th in the country in the 100 free with a `B' cut time of 42.83, which he recorded earlier this season at the Purdue Invitational. If he can hold this ranking through the NCAA Championships, he will gain All-American status.

Soedel is also ranked 25th in the country in the 50 free with a `B' cut time of 19.64 and will also compete in the 200 free (1:35.83), where his `B' cut time currently ranks 36th.

Kron, a freshman from Handen, Sweden, will appear in three events as well: the 200 IM, the 400 IM and 200 back.

Kron ranks 28th nationally in the 200 back with a `B' cut time 1:42.96, ranks 31st in the 400 IM after turning in a `B' cut performance of 3:48.01. Kron's 200 IM `B' cut time of 1:46.80 ranks 58th on the psych sheet.

A total of 60 swimmers from the Pac-12 Conference received an invitation to the national meet.

There are two ways to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships: turn in an automatic qualifying time, or an `A' cut time, during the season, or achieve a `B' cut time and place among the top 28 or 29 swimmers throughout the country in a given event.

Once a competitor qualifies for the NCAA Championships in any event, he is permitted to compete in any event at NCAAs as long as he is listed as an `Optional Entry' on the psych sheet (above), regardless of if they are ranked in the top 28 or 29.

The NCAA Men's Championships will take place March 28-30 in Indianapolis, Ind., at the IU Natatorium and the IUPUI Sports Complex.

ESPN3.com will stream finals sessions Friday and Saturday, Mar. 29-30 live. Additionally, ESPNU will air a 90-minute show at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 10.

Live results will be available at ncaa.com.
