West Lafayette, Ind. - After a landmark season, the Utah Swim team continues to add to their success. With 15 school records already shattered, some dating back as far as 1987, the Utes show no signs of slowing down as seven Utah swimmers competed at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., last weekend, and taking another step toward their Olympic dreams by qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials June 25-July 2 in Omaha, Neb. at the CenturyLink Center.

The eight Utah athletes, including two formers Utes, returned to Salt Lake City boasting eight new Olympic Team Trial qualifying times collected over the course of the three-day meet.

Freshman Nick Soedel and sophomore Traycie Swartz both entered the weekend with trial cuts already in hand. Swartz claimed cut times in both the 100 back (1:02.67) and the 50 free (25.87), while Soedel grabbed his trial time in the 50 free (23.23).

On the first night in West Lafeyette, Soedel added a second Olympic Team Trial qualifying time to his resumé by posting 51.49 in the 100 Freestyle.  Swartz also added the 100 free to her collection of events by breaking the Purdue Natatorium record (55.81).

Ken Tiltges punched his ticket to Omaha in the 100 free by posting 51.26, while also earning a cut time in the 100 free (51.26).

Though his years at Utah have just expired, senior Major Robinson is not ready to hang up the goggles. Robinson posted a time of 2:03.66 in the 200 back and 57.44 in the 100 back for a ticket to Omaha. Senior Hannah Caron also earned a cut time in the 100 fly (1:01.18).

Karson Applin was added to the multitude of Utes headed to the Olympic Team Trials with his performance in the 100 fly (55.10).

Natalie Edge and Kristina Evans, both Utah Swimming alumni, have continued their training and have also earned trips to Omaha in the 50 free.

Three qualifying meets remain for the Utes, but already they claim the most athletes to ever represent the University of Utah at the US Olympic Team Trials.
