WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The University of Utah Swimming and Diving team was successful in the classroom as an impressive 11 student-athletes from the women's squad were named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Academic Team, while four Ute men were honored.

It's no easy task to be named to reach this feat. To be recognized, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 minimum grade point average and be a significant contributor in the pool.

Senior captain Danielle Caldwell and sophomore Kersten Merry were outstanding this season both in and out of the pool and were elected to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team for their efforts.

Caldwell is majoring in Biology and holds a 3.59 grade point average, while Merry has 3.65 cumulative GPA with an undeclared major.

Junior Valerie McMullan earned second-team recognition with a 3.60 GPA, while studying Physical Therapy.

Caleb Herrick and Bjorn Gunnarsson were also acknowledged on the second team. Herrick has a 3.32 GPA in Physical Therapy and Gunnarsson has a 3.33 mark in Economics.

Kayla Buck, Maddie Jamora, Nicole Ligeza, Jasmine Matkovic, Lindsay McSweeney, Treasa Ring, Traycie Swartz, Samantha Zuch, Graham Charlton and Brandon Stoppelmoor each earned All-Academic Honorable Mention.
