OGDEN, Utah - Junior Anneli Stahl of the Utah track and field team captured first place in the weight throw with a school-record performance on the opening day of the Wildcat Indoor Open.
"It was a really great day," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "I thought our throwers really responded. We didn't have great meet last week, but they bounced back today. Hopefully that is a sign of good things to come in 10 days at the MPSF Championships. The girls were really focused and had a lot of fun today."
The weight throw featured a school-record performance by Stahl. Stahl broke a 10-year school record with a throw of 61-2.75 to earn first place. Junior Cynthia Sanchez captured second place and recorded a new personal-best performance of 57-5.00. Finishing third overall with a season-best mark of 53-7.75 was Nikkie Rudder.
