Winterton Interview on Flotrack

SEATTLE, Wash.- The Utah women's track and field team wrapped up action at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships securing 12th place with 26 points. The Utes were led by senior Rosalie Waller's fourth-place performance in the 800.

"This was a tightly contested meet," head coach Kyle Kepler said. "I wish we could have captured a few more points but I am very proud of how our kids competed. We had a lot of positive things happen and I look forward to the upcoming outdoor season."

The highlight of the day came in the 800 when Waller clocked a lifetime best 2:07.57. Waller captured fourth place and earned five points for the Utes. Waller's performance currently ranks fourth on the all-time Utah list.

Coming off a first-place performance on Friday in the 5,000, junior Rebekah Winterton continued her success by setting another personal record. Winterton finished the 3,000-meter race with a time of 9:24.11, beating her previous best by 12 seconds and earning seventh overall. Winterton's seventh-place finish captured two team points for the Utes.

Breaking a school record was the Utes 4x400 relay team. The relay featured Stephanie Jolley, Ali Eisenbeiss, Rosalie Waller, and freshman Grace Englund. The relay set a record time of 3:43.82 to secure an eighth-place finish for the Utes.



Junior Susannah Hurst and freshman Jessica Sams also competed in the 3,000 for the Utes. Hurst finished 14th clocking a time of 9:39.82. Sams recorded a nine-second PR and placed 30th. The 800-meter also featured Ali Eisenbeiss finishing eighth with a time of 2:10.13 and capturing one team point for the Utes.

Freshman Courtney Jost represented the Utes in the triple jump, finishing eighth overall with a jump measuring 38 feet, seven inches and earning one team point.

The 400-meter race showcased senior Stephanie Jolley and Grace Englund. Finishing first for the Utes and 13th overall was Jolley with a personal-best performance of 55.20. Englund also ran an excellent race, finishing with a time of 57.28 for 32nd.

In the shot put, the Utes had two athletes finish in the top-15. Nikkie Rudder just missed capturing a team point, finishing first for the Utes and ninth overall with a throw of 47 feet, 10.5 inches. Freshman Kassie Nagel claimed the 14th spot with a throw of 43 feet, 3.25 inches.

Leading the Utes in the mile was junior Nicole Rietz with a time of 4:57.10 finishing 21st overall.

The Utes finished the MPSF Championships in 12th place with a combined total of 26 points. The overall winner was USC with 106 points followed by Arizona State (81 points) and Arizona (75 points).
