LOS ANGELES, Calif.  –  The University of Utah women’s track and field team finished up the first day of the USC Trojan Invitational with solid performances in the hammer throw and three-kilometer events.

“We had a solid day,” Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. “We need to continue to compete hard and improve against very good competition.”

On her fourth attempt, Hickey recorded a 188-06 feet edging out fellow Ute Anneli Stahl for third place. Stahl finished fourth overall with less than an inch difference, but officially was listed as 188-06 feet. Cynthia Sanchez earned 12th with a 158-10 feet, respectively for the Utes.

In the 3000m, Katelyn Stringfellow led the charge finishing eighth with a personal-best 10:07.32 followed by Rebekah Winterton in ninth clocking a 10:13.14.
