PROVO, Utah- Competing in the heptathlon, sophomore Suzie Vozarova started off the BYU Robison Invitational for the Utes with a solid first day. 

“Suzie had a really good start today,” Utah associate head coach Burke Bockman said. “The first three events she competed in were heptathlon personal-records for her, followed by a solid time in the 200m. She is looking to continue building on those top performances tomorrow in the final three events.” 

After the first day and four events, Vozarova is in seventh with a day one personal- best 2,767 points. Getting the day off to a quick start, Vozarova finished tied for seventh in the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.75 seconds.

In the high jump, Vozarova cleared the bar of 5-3.50 feet tying for fourth, followed by a ninth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 30-7.25 feet. 

Wrapping up the first day, Vozarova clocked 26.09 seconds in the 200m, earning fourth. 

The leader after day one is Southern Utah’s Shaye Maurer with 3,377 points followed by BYU’s Elizabeth Wilson (3,076 points) and Brie Ann Simmons (2,935 points). 

Vozarova will compete again on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. in with the long jump followed by the javelin and 800m.
