DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Brianna LeRoy of the University of Utah track & field team cleared a height 5'8.75" (1.75m) to take 22nd place in the high jump finals at the NCAA Championships on Friday at Drake Stadium.

"`Bree' had a solid round of jumps in her first-ever NCAA finals," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "Being able to clear two bars and then jump at a bar that would have been a lifetime-best is all you can ask for. She had some very good attempts, but just couldn't quite get over 5'10.75" (1.79m). Associate head coach Burke Bockman and volunteer assistant coach Andrew Levin did an outstanding job with `Bree' and her development over the last four years. We are all very proud of her achievements, including being Utah's first-ever All-Pac-12 athlete on the track and our leading point scorer in the last two outdoor conference meets. It's been a privilege to coach her and we all wish her the best as she moves forward in life."

In her first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, LeRoy cleared her first attempt at 5'7" (1.70m) as well her second jump at 5-8.75" (1.75m).

The Gig Harbor, Wash., native then went for her personal-record height of 5-10.5" (1.79m) in the third progression. She had a great first attempt, but unfortunately could not clear her personal-best mark in three tries.

A select group of Utes will compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials June 22-30 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
