SALT LAKE CITY- Not only are the student-athletes on the University of Utah women's track and field team excelling athletically, but they are also accomplishing great feats in the classroom. Thirty-two members of the team finished the 2011 fall semester with a GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn academic honor roll accolades.

"I am proud of our team's commitment to their academic success and achievements," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "Together, we set high standards and goals in our program. As a group, they work very hard in a variety of degree fields as they pursue their goals and prepare for their future after college. This type of success is something that everyone associated with the program can take great pride in.

The Ute women's track and field team had a combined GPA of 3.262, while the cross country team earned a combined GPA of 3.216 (all of whom compete on the track and field team as well). From the 32 track & field student-athletes to make the honor roll, 14 were also named to the Dean's List, with at least a 3.5 GPA.

Senior Alyssa Abbott, sophomore Kayla McMurray, and freshman Nicole Rietz all earned a 4.0 GPA.
