Although the Utes' Carroll got the first hit of the game in the third inning, Minnesota got on the board first with two runs on four hits in the bottom of the third.

Utah got on the board in the sixth inning, after Braden Anderson reached base with a single before scoring on two errors after a failed pickoff attempt.

Tanner Banks pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs and eight hits with three strikeouts in the loss. Josh Chapman entered in relief and pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit with one strikeout.
