ALBUQUERQUE - Tyler Yagi and Nik Gumeson each had two hits as the Utah baseball team fell to New Mexico on Saturday, 5-2.

Utah scored both of its runs in the first inning. Yagi led off the game with a double to left field, moving over on Michael Beltran's sacrifice bunt before scoring on a sacrifice fly from Nick Kuroczko. C.J. Cron and Devin Walker hit back-to-back two-out singles and Cron crossed the plate on a balk to put the Utes up 2-0.

New Mexico put up a run in the bottom of the first off an RBI ground out from Rafael Neda after Adam Courcha led off the inning with a double. The Lobos tied the game in the fourth, 2-2, after hits from Ryan Honeycutt and Chris Juarez.

New Mexico broke the tie in the fifth inning after Honeycutt hit a bases-loaded single, giving the Lobos a 4-2 lead. UNM also added a run in the seventh inning on another Honeycutt RBI single.

Utah left runners on base in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

Ute starter Andrew Wilding pitched four innings and falls to 1-2 on the year. Bryn Card went three innings and struck out three while Stephen Streich threw the final inning.

"We just never really got it going offensively," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We had opportunities but didn't cash them in."

Utah and New Mexico square off for the rubber game of the series on Sunday at noon.
