C.J. Cron went 7-for-11 in the three games against TCU, including three home runs.

Utah's Bryn Card and TCU's Steven Maxwell both pitched well in the early going. Card gave up a home run to Bryan Holaday in the first inning and the Horned Frogs added two in the third after hitting three doubles in the inning, taking a 3-0 lead.
The Utes stranded two on base in the second after Cron led off the inning with a double but would not score until the fourth inning. Cron started things off with a walk before three-straight singles by Nik Gumeson, Jo Jo Sharrar and Michael Beltran. Gumeson and Sharrar loaded the bases for Beltran, whose hit up the middle plated Utah's first run of the game.
TCU had runners on base in the fifth and sixth innings but could not score again until the seventh when Jason Coats' grand slam gave the Horned Frogs a 7-1 lead. TCU also added a run in the eighth inning on a solo home run by Taylor Featherston for an 8-1 lead.
Cron hit a solo home run to lead off the ninth inning to put the score at 8-2. Although pinch hitter Kyle Myers kept things going with a double down the left field line, TCU forced a pair of ground outs and a pop up to end the game.
"TCU is a very good team," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "They are a complete team. We didn't play as well as we could but TCU had a lot to do with it."
The Utes go on the road this weekend after completing their finals this week, taking on USC in Los Angeles for a Friday-Saturday-Sunday series.
