SEATTLE - The Utah baseball team fell to Washington, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Although Utah held an early 2-1 lead, Washington pulled ahead with runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Dalton Carroll pitched seven innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks. He falls to 3-7 on the year. Josh Chapman pitched the eighth inning and recorded two strikeouts.

Utah had five hits, with Cody Scaggari going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk.

Although Braden Anderson looked to start things off strong for the Utes with a leadoff single in the first inning and Cory Hunt walked to put two runners on, Washington got the next three hitters out to get out of the inning. The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the inning after Braden Bishop led off the inning with an infield single, moving over on a sacrifice bunt and stealing third before scoring on a ground out.

Utah came back in the top of the second to score two runs and take the lead. Kody Davis and Konnor Armijo hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. Davis scored on a bunt, while Scaggari hit an RBI single to score Armijo.

Washington took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the fifth inning. Three hits included an RBI single, and a hit batter with the bases loaded also led to a run. The Huskies added an unearned runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pull ahead for the win.

The Utes and Huskies play the rubber match on Sunday, May 12, at 12:00 p.m. PT. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
