OREM, Utah - After battling back from a 7-1 deficit to take the lead and allowing three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Utah baseball team snapped Utah Valley's 32-game win streak with an 11-10 victory.

The Utes battled back from a 7-1 deficit with three runs in the fourth and fifth innings before taking an 8-7 lead in the sixth.

Utah led 11-7 going into the bottom of the ninth inning before UVU scored three runs on four hits before Ute reliever Tyler Wagner got Alex Exon to strike out and end the game.

The Utes were led at the plate by Ethan Leiter and James Brooks, who each had four hits on the night. Utah out-hit the Wolverines 18-13 on the night, and the Utes were helped by four errors by Utah Valley. The Utes had three home runs on the night, their highest single-game total of the season.

Utah reliever Nick Green was solid over 4 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on three hits with five strikeouts. It was the longest outing of his career, and he picked up the second win of his career. Ute starter Blake Golding went two innings, allowing six runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Josh Chapman pitched 1 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings with a strikeout. Wagner pitched the final inning, allowing three runs (none earned) and four hits with three strikeouts.

Brooks led off the game for Utah with his 10th home run of the year to give the Utes a 1-0 lead. The Utes would struggle with the key hit during the next two innings, leaving the bases loaded in each inning.



Utah Valley took a commanding 6-1 lead in the bottom of the second with six runs on five hits. Willie Pratt had a two-RBI double in the inning, while Austin Heaps also sent in two runs with an RBI single. The Wolverines increased their lead to 7-1 with a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Pratt.

The Utes began their comeback in the top of the fourth with three runs. Leiter scored on an error after a single to lead off the inning, and Shaun Cooper hit a two-RBI single. Utah also scored three runs in the top of the fifth with the help of a pair of Wolverine errors and a two-run home run from Leiter, tying the game at 7-7.

Trey Nielsen's solo homer in the top of the sixth inning gave Utah an 8-7 lead.

Utah added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning. Gavin Green led off the inning with a single, followed by RBI hits from Leiter, Brooks and Tyler Relf.

In the bottom of the ninth, Utah Valley loaded the bases with two outs. Goose Kallunki hit a two-RBI single through the left side to cut the deficit to 11-9, while Kai Hatch made it 11-10 with an RBI double before Exon struck out to end the game.

Utah returns home this weekend for a three-game series against Stanford, beginning on Friday, May 18th at 6:00 p.m.
