C.J. Cron hit his 15th home run of the year against UAB.

With the Utes down 2-1 after UAB scored a pair of runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead, Utah came back in the bottom of the from to re-take the lead on the back-to-back home runs from Cron and Cooper. Cron hit a 475-foot liner to left field, while Cooper's was just over the fence in left center.
In a strategy geared towards next week's conference tournament, the Utes threw both Rick Anton and Joe Pond for four innings each on the mound. Anton allowed two runs on three hits, earning the win to raise his record to 8-1 on the year. Pond allowed just one hit with four strikeouts.
Tyler Wagner came on to pitch the ninth inning, and had one strikeout en-route to his 11th save of the season.
UAB scored a pair of runs in the top of the third. Harry Clark hit an infield single and reached base despite a great effort from Brooks at short to make the play. Jacob German put two on after an errant throw after a diving play by Beltran at second base. Both runners would score on a two-RBI double from Nick Crawford.
Utah out-hit UAB, 11-5. The Utes stranded seven runners on base, including leaving the bases loaded in the seventh after three hits in the inning. Brooks led the Utes with three hits, while Austin Shackelford and Trey Nielsen had two hits each.
UAB was led by Patrick Palmerio, who went 3-for-4. Ryan Wooley earned the loss on the mound after pitching four innings.
Utah and UAB play the final game of their series on Saturday, May 21, at noon at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
