SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team scored 13 runs on 16 hits en-route to a 13-6 win over Kansas on Sunday afternoon to win the series against the Jayhawks.

The Utes scored three runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning to pull ahead for the win after the game was tied at 2-2 after the first inning.

Braden Anderson led Utah at the plate with a 4-for-5 night with three RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Relf went 3-for-4 with two RBI and four runs while Trey Nielsen had two hits. It was Anderson's second four-hit game this season. He also had four hits in game three against Stanford.

Dalton Carroll pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs (none earned) on four hits with five strikeouts. He raises his record to 4-7 with the win. Josh Chapman pitched 2 2/3 innings, striking out three and allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits.

"That was as complete an offensive performance as we've had all year," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We did a great job with situational hitting, we squared up some balls and did some nice base running. The only thing that was not up to par today was our defense. We made five errors, but we made some great plays to compensate for that. Dalton and Chapman did a really nice job to get out of some things that could have escalated."

Kansas scored two runs in the top of the first with two hits, taking advantage of two Utah errors in the inning. The Utes came right back in the bottom of the first, tying the game at 2-2. Anderson led off the inning with a single, and Relf hit an RBI double deep into the left field corner followed by an RBI single off the bat of Nielsen.

Utah got out of the third inning with a double play after Kansas put two on following an error and a single. The Utes would take the lead in the bottom of the third, scoring three runs to go ahead 5-2. Utah loaded the bases with no outs after Anderson reached on an error, Cory Hunt walked and Relf was hit by the pitch.

Although Kansas got its first out of the inning with a strikeout, Bret Helton was hit to send home a run, while a sacrifice fly from Konnor Armijo scored Hunt. Biss Larsen also had an RBI single in the inning.

Utah continued its scoring barrage with a four-run fourth inning. TJ Bennett led off the inning with a single to center field, and Anderson hit an RBI double over the glove of the leaping left fielder. Hunt tripled into the right field corner for an RBI while Relf's RBI single scored Hunt. Nielsen singled through the left side and Relf scored as the left fielder's throw home went wild.

The Utes added another run in the fifth inning for a 10-2 lead after Bennett walked and stole second, scoring on an RBI single from Anderson.

A triple from Connor McKay led to a run for Kansas in the seventh inning, and the Utes came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Armijo hit a leadoff double and scored after a pair of ground outs, and back-to-back hits from Cody Scaggari and Anderson led to another run, giving Utah a 12-3 lead.

Each team scored a run in the eighth inning. Kansas rallied with two outs after an error and two singles. Relf, Wyler Smith and Will Taylor each singled to lead to a run for Utah.

Kansas added two runs on three hits in the ninth.
