With baseball season right around the corner, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is Dustin Hughes, who was a four-time all-league player at La Jolla Country Day High School and is from San Diego, Calif.

What is your favorite baseball memory?
Winning CIF in 2011.

What is your favorite sport besides baseball?

What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
Go to the beach and spend time with friends and family.

Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
Duddy - a friend gave it to me.

Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
It has a big-school feel and is a great program.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My father because of his work ethic, and my high school coach who taught me the ways of baseball.

My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The mountains and the nice people.

What are your goals for this year?
To have a winning season.
