The Utah baseball team officially starts practice for the 2014 season on Friday, Jan. 24.
Team members have been doing individual workouts through the winter. The team will spend two of the next three weekends in St. George leading up to the season to get in some outdoor practice before the 2014 campaign opens on Feb. 14 at Sacramento State.
"We're looking forward to getting outside in St. George to get ready for the season," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We'll get a few days on the field and get in some scrimmages before we get started. We are all anxious to get out on dirt and grass."
Utah returns 19 letterwinners, including junior starting pitcher Mitch Watrous, who was an honorable mention all-Pac-12 selection last year. Other returners include starting pitchers Dalton Carroll and Tanner Banks along with relievers Nick Green, Luke West and Josh Chapman. Utah returns all but two starters in the field, including infielders Cory Hunt, Kody Davis and Dallas Carroll and outfielders Wyler Smith and Braden Anderson.
