SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team continues in Mountain West Conference play this weekend against UNLV, beginning the three-game series on Friday, April 1, at 6:00 p.m. at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
ESPN 700 AM will air Friday's game with an internet audio feed at www.espn700sports.com, while audio for all three games can be found at UtahUtes.com.
Utah leads the conference with a 4-1 MWC record after going 2-1 against BYU two weeks ago and winning two games against Air Force (the third game was postponed with Utah leading).
"We are playing well, but we need to finish off this homestand correctly and continue to play well," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "Our guys our playing with great confidence right now, and that's really nice to see. If we get down or make a mistake, there's no panic."
Friday features a strong pitching matchup, with Utah's Rick Anton facing UNLV's Tanner Peters. Both are among the conference leaders in ERA, strikeouts, innings pitched and wins.
"First thing that you think about with UNLV is Tanner Peters," Kinneberg said. "This could be a real good match up on Friday night."
UNLV had a solid start to the season, but has struggled recently, dropping six of their last eight games. The Rebels do have some solid wins, with victories over UC Irvine, TCU, Texas Tech and Arizona. UNLV is 1-5 in conference play this year and was swept last weekend by New Mexico.
Big innings lifted the Utes to a 15-3 midweek win over Utah Valley on Tuesday.
