With the baseball team in fall practice and the spring season coming up before we know it, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is junior Tyler Yagi, who played at Utah in 2009 and 2010 before serving an LDS mission.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
MWC Tournament Championship win over San Diego State and the Cal State Fullerton Regional.
What is your favorite sport besides baseball?
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
Play guitar, spent time with loved ones, service.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
Yagsnation - teammates gave it to me after freshman season.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I have grown up my whole life watching Utah Athletics. Family dream for me to play here. Signed my letter of intent the day before my grandpa died.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My family - grandpa Junior Yagi and father Rick Yagi. They have supported me in every facet of life.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The University of Utah.
What do you like best about Coach Kinneberg?
He always does what he says he is going to do. He is honest in all of his dealings.
What are your goals for this year?
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
Health, Society and Policy. I want to go into hospital administration.
