With the spring season coming up before we know it, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is junior TJ Bennett, who was an all-region player at Mesa Community College.

What is your favorite baseball memory?
Playing in the TCU regional my freshman year. We took second and eliminated TCU and OU.

What is your favorite sport besides baseball?

What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
Spend time with family, play the drums, volunteer at my church.

Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
When I was a kid I was `Lil Benny.' Because while my dad was a pro coach his name was `Benny' so I easily became `Lil Benny.'

Why did you choose Utah?
They play in a great conference. It was the best situation for me.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
God - he is the reason I am who I am and why I do what I do. My dad - he is my best friend, role model and mentor.

My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The view, the mountains, the campus looking over the city. The campus is amazing.

What do you like best about Coach Kinneberg?
I feel comfortable with him and I feel like he is honest with me. I really like our relationship, it was a big reason I chose the U.

What are your goals for this year?
Win a Pac-12 championship and make an NCAA regional.

What are your pregame superstitions?
Spend time praying and worshiping. I always listen to Lecrae.

What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
Mass communications. Hopefully play professionally and then I want to help kids. I want to coach baseball and hopefully travel doing camps for kids in the off season.
