Prior to Utah: Brekkott Chapman is a local product having attended Roy High School in Roy, Utah. The 6-8 forward ranked No. 12 in the class of 2014 by ESPN and also played for the Utah Prospects AAU team. An extremely promising prospect due to his savvy, length, and skill set, the rangy left-hander has terrific ball skills (triple threat game) and always appears to make the right basketball play.
He can knock down the jump shot, drop off a nifty assist, or convert buckets in the open court due to his polished skill set. He plays with a great pace and never gets himself into trouble with the dribble. He is always on balance and he plays this game with a high IQ.
Chapman picked Utah over Arizona, ASU, BYU, Colorado, Gonzaga and UCLA after averaging averaged 19 points and 8.6 rebounds. He will join another local standout, Jordan Loveridge, who was widely regarded as the state's top prospect for 2012.
