Utah Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak
On the differences between the first and second halves
"We talked about it, I think yesterday, we just saw two different styles. [Idaho State] did a really good job slowing us down in the first half. We were really stagnant. We shot ourselves in the foot. I thought there were a number of possessions where we needed to execute something and it seemed like we had one guy that wasn't in the right spot, wasn't thinking about what we were trying to do so we ended up just standing around. And we didn't do a very good job at attacking their zone. I think in the second half, we used some pick-and-roll and had guys trying to get into gaps on the dribble. There was one possession in the first half when I think we had 10 or 11 passes, and the ball never touched the floor. And they were simply just closing off our passes. At some point when you're playing zone, it's about getting the ball in the paint. We did that with our bigs through the pass. Our bigs did a good job passing the ball to each other. Then in the second half, we did a good job at getting into the paint. It was a little bit different brand of basketball, a little easier to swallow."
On the play of Dallin Bachynski
"He's got a lot of energy and he's come along real well. I think we challenged both our bigs in our last game against Sacramento State, we had two rebounds between our starting four and five men, and tonight when you looking at our rebounding totals, they're at 28. Dallin's a force to be reckoned with. I thought he gave us a great lift on both ends of the ball, his energy, flying around. Other than the fact that he missed a couple dunks, and that's alright. He's got a great future."
Sophomore center Dallin Bachynski
On his performance
"I am just glad I was able to help my team win. My guards were able to get me the ball and that was huge because without them I wouldn't have done anything tonight."
Junior guard Glen Dean
"He did a really good job tonight, just bringing energy and getting those 50-50 balls and rebounds that we didn't get last game. Dallin did a really good job getting us extra possessions. He brought an inside presence that we needed tonight. Coach said in our meeting before the game `Let's pound it inside.' He helped us out getting a few buckets in there and opening up the game for the rest of us."
On the second half
"It was a really big 20 minutes for us and really showed the character of our team. That we aren't going to give up and we are going to keep fighting. We came out of halftime with that mentality that `we have nothing to lose and everything to prove. So let's go out here and go to work'."
Idaho State Head Coach Bill Evans
On the play of Jakub Kusmieruk
"I need to find a way to play him more and figure out a way I can play him in longer stretches. I don't worry about him offensively, I worry about him at the other end. He is a big man. You can't expect a man who is 7'4", 280 to do some of the things the other guys are supposed to be able to do, that is for sure."
On Utah's adjustments in the second half
"I just think they got aggressive. I think it was more us than them. I think we might've gotten tired. That sounds like an excuse, but they just got after it more than we did in the second half. That is the bottom line."
On what he liked about his team tonight
"I liked a lot of things we did tonight. Defensively, we held them to 38% percent. We got a lot of rebounds and got to the free throw line more than we have in the last two games. We turned it over a little bit too much."
