AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - Utah coach Rick Majerus wasn't surprised that Air Force gave his fourth-ranked Utes such a tough time Thursday night.
Alex Jensen scored 17 points as Utah remained undefeated with a 57-46 victory over Air Force.
The Utes (16-0, 4-0 Western Athletic Conference) led by only three points with 7:22 left before closing with a 14-6 run.
"Air Force Academy came and played with tremendous purpose," Majerus said. "I'm glad we're out of here. If they play with this effort against other teams, they are going to knock some of them off."
Utah tied a school record set in 1912-13 for the most consecutive victories to begin a season.
Jarmica Reese scored 13 points and Mike Freeman had 11 for Air Force (7-7, 0-4), which scored only one field goal in the final 6:10.
"I thought we played well both offensively and defensively, although our shooting percentage won't show it," said coach Reggie Minton. "You have to give up something defensively against Utah with all those big guys they have."
Andre Miller scored 12 points for Utah, which opened the second half with a 13-5 run to take a 37-25 with 15:31 left.
Air Force then went on a 15-6 run, cutting the Utes' lead to 43-40. But Utah held on by making eight straight free throws in the last 3:15.
