Utah Basketball Searching for 1,700th Win

The Utes are 15th all-time in NCAA history with 1,699 wins and rank 19th all-time with 27 trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Utah's 32 regular-season conference championships put it fifth among all Division I schools trailing Kansas, Kentucky, Penn and North Carolina

Wright Having Quite a Debut

Utah's Delon Wright was named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for play from Jan. 13-19.

In the win over USC, Wright led the way with 22 points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists. He followed that performance with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists against the nationally-ranked Bruins.

Wright leads the league in steals with 3.1 per contest and also ranks among the top 15 in minutes played (1st), assists (3rd), field goal percentage (4th), assist/turnover ratio (4th), scoring (6th), free throw percentage (6th), blocks (7th) and rebounds (12th).

Wright joins Jordan Loveridge as Player of the Week selections this year for Utah, its first winners since joining the Pac-12 Conference in 2011.

History vs. Washington

The Utes trail the all-time series with Washington, 8-6, and have not beaten the Huskies in Salt Lake City since 1970.

Despite that fact, the Utes are 3-2 all-time against the Huskies at home. The lone meeting in this building as Pac-12 foes came in 2012 with UW earning a 57-53 victory.

The last six meetings between these two teams have all been decided by single digits and Utah is looking for wins in consecutive seasons against the Huskies for the first time in program history.

Huskies Hold Off Utah, 59-57

Washington held on in the final seconds for a 59-57 win over Utah in Seattle earlier this season. Delon Wright finished with a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Utes.

Utah made only 1 of 15 3-point attempts dished out a paltry three assists, both season lows. Jordan Loveridge added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Utes while Brandon Taylor was held to four points on 2-of-11 shooting.

Princeton Onwas scored six straight points for Utah during a stretch in the second half for his best outing in league play.

History vs. Washington State

The Utes lead the all-time series with Washington State, 14-4, but have lost the last two meetings, both in Pullman, and three of the past five.

Utah is 11-1 all-time in Salt Lake City against the Cougars after dropping the first matchup between the teams back in 1946.

Prior to the contest earlier this season, only one meeting since 1967 had been decided by single digits. The Utes earned a 62-60 overtime win at the Huntsman Center in 2012 during their first year in the Pac-12.

Utah Falls To Washington State, 49-46

Utah saw a 12-point deficit slip from its grasp in a 49-46 loss at Washington State earlier this season.

The 46 points, 13 field goals and 29.5 percent field-goal shooting were all season lows for the Utes.

Jordan Loveridge and Delon Wright combined to score 29 points with the rest of the team going 6-for-25. Utah managed only four field goals in the second half.

Que Johnson had 14 points and went 10 of 13 from the free throw line as the Cougars won their first conference game despite playing without leading scorer DeVonte Lacy.

Taylor Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Brandon Taylor has been recognized as one of the nation's top student-athletes for his performance on the court and in the classroom by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

He currently owns a 3.70 GPA and is majoring in psychology while leading the Utes in 3-pointers made. Taylor also ranks seventh in the Pac-12 in assist-to-turnover ratio and 12th in assists per game.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Loveridge Leading the Way

Utah's Jordan Loveridge was named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for play from Dec. 2-8. The sophomore averaged 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 blocks

It marked the first Player of the Week selection for Utah since joining the Pac-12 Conference in 2011.

Loveridge currently ranks eighth in the Pac-12 in rebounding (7.8), 10th in scoring (16.0), and fourth in free-throw percentage (84.8) while racking up five double-doubles.

Utah in the National Rankings

The Utes have won 12 of their 14 games this season by double figures and rank sixth in the nation in scoring margin (+16.2). Utah is also fifth in the nation shooting 50.0 percent from the field.

They also rank in the top-20 nationally in free throw percentage (12th - 75.7), assists per game (13th - 16.4), assist turnover ratio (15th - 1.50), fouls per game (17th - 16.3) and three point field goal defense (18th - 29.2).

Success in Double Figures

The Utes are 11-3 this season when they place three players in double figures with the only losses against No. 10 Oregon, No. 1 Arizona and Colorado. If Utah puts four players in double figures, it is 7-0 this season.

Brandon Taylor in particular, has been key to the Utes. When the sophomore scores in double figures, the Utes are 7-1 this season and have won 10 of their last 12 with the only setbacks coming in the Pac-12 semifinals last season to league champion Oregon and the last contest vs. CU

Utah was also 7-0 when Dakarai Tucker scored in double figures during his young career. However, that streak recently came to an end after the sophomore scored double digits against Arizona and Colorado.

Huntsman Center History

The Runnin' Utes are 556-146 (.792) all-time in their current home, the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Utah's benchmark 500th win in the 42-year old facility came on Dec. 6, 2008, as the Utes posted a 91-61 blowout of eventual Southeastern Conference champion LSU.

Utah finished 11-7 at home last season and has finished with a winning record in 28 of the 29 seasons played at the Jon M. Huntsman Center, the largest arena in the Pac-12. This season, the Utes are 14-1 at home

In conference home games over the last 18 years, Utah is 143-35 (.803). Utah got its first Pac-12 victory in school history at home against Washington State, 62-60, in overtime on Jan. 5, 2012.

Utes Rewrite Huntsman Records

Utah demolished Evergreen State in their season opener, 128-44 as the team set a number of records including most points ever in the Huntsman Center and largest margin of victory against an opposing college. The 128 points were four shy of the all-time single-game mark of 132 scored against Evansville back in 1960.

Utah Adds Three for 2014-15

Utah men's basketball head coach Larry Krystkowiak announced the addition of three players, Brekkott Chapman, Kyle Kuzma and Isaiah Wright, for the 2014-15 season.

Kyle Kuzma is originally from Burton, Michigan. Scout.com currently lists Kuzma as the 25th best power forward in the nation for his class and ESPN recently rated him as a four-star commit.

Brekkott Chapman is a local product having attended Roy High School in Roy, Utah. The 6-8 forward is ranked No. 12 in the class of 2014 by ESPN and also plays for the Utah Prospects AAU team.

Isaiah Wright, a 6-2 point guard, attends Borah High School in Boise, Idaho. The 2013 Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year was also named the 5A All-Idaho Player of the Year and MVP of the 5A Idaho State Tournament while leading his squad to a state title.

New Utah Basketball Facility

After years of talk about a new basketball facility at the University of Utah, official fundraising efforts for the new $36 million Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Center kicked off Nov. 25.
