Bachynski Brothers do Battle
Dallin Bachynski and his brother Jordan, a senior at Arizona State, met twice last season on the hardwood and will play at least two more times during their collegiate careers.
After a year at Southern Utah in 2009-10, Dallin embarked on a two-year mission in Croatia that ended six months early when an undefined illness caused him to lose 20 pounds.
Upon his return to North America in the fall of 2011, Dallin got his release from Southern Utah and looked elsewhere for a roster spot. An SUU assistant provided a highlight tape, which Dallin's mother, Yolanda posted on YouTube.
Soon after Dallin and his father John drove to Orem to visit Dallin's sister, Jessica, a 6-1 forward at Utah Valley State. Along the way, they stopped at Utah to visit with coaches. Three days later, Dallin had an offer from the Utes.
This season, Jordan leads the league in blocks, ranks third in the Pac-12 in rebounding and field goal percentage.
Dallin is ninth in blocks and is coming off 12 points and nine rebounds against No. 4 Arizona.
History vs. Arizona State
The Utes lead the all-time series with Arizona State, 27-20 and have split their regular-season meetings the last two seasons with the home team winning each time.
In fact, the teams have split the last 12 meetings after Utah won six in a row from 1976-1981.
The Utes have won seven in a row against the Sun Devils in Salt Lake City with ASU's last win coming in 1975.
The last four meetings between the teams have been decided by a total of 15 points.

Jahii Carson scored 23 points, eight in a decisive five-minute span late in the game, as Arizona State held on to beat Utah 79-75 earlier this season.
Jonathan Gilling added 13 points, including 3 of 3 3-pointers, a critical one coming with 1:40 to play for the Sun Devils, and Jordan Bachynski had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Arizona State..
Utah led by as many as nine in the first half and were up 41-37 at the break. Dakarai Tucker's3-pointer gave Utah its last lead, 61-60, with 7:32 to go. Three times, Utah cut the lead to one only to have Arizona State respond.

Jordan Loveridge, the team's second-leading scorer at 15.6 points per game, was held scoreless until 3:40 remained in regulation. His first points were crucial, though, as the Utes ripped off a 10-2 run to get back in the game.
