Go Utes!
Go Utes!

Well it's been a long time coming, but the Utes are finally in my home town of Rockhampton. Last night was the opening game, which we played against the hometown team the Rockhampton Rockets.

As always, the Rockets came out firing in the first quarter and their taller guards created definite mismatch problems inside. These problems continued well into the second quarter. However, the problem was solved going into the third, which gave us a chance to extend our lead and bury the opposition. I simply can't explain how excited I was to play in front of the home crowd. I was also very proud that the locals from Rockhampton produced a near sell-out crowd.

Prior to our stint in Rockhampton we also managed to visit my second home at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. I spent a little over two years of my life living with some of the boys that played on the A.I.S. team, so it was great to get back there and catch up with them.

Once we had finished the game in Canberra we traveled our way back to the centre of Sydney (Sydney city) and got a good night's rest in preparation for the following day's game against the West Sydney Razorbacks. The razorbacks were certainly a very tough opponent with six young players that had experienced the college basketball scene.
