Utah has won six-straight season openers dating back to Michigan in 2008.

Players making their first career starts were OL Junior Salt, OL Siaosi Aiono, RB Kelvin York, WR Anthony Denham, DE Hunter Dimick, DT LT Tuipolutu, LB Jared Norris and DB Davion Orphey.

True freshmen who played were DT Sam Tevi, SN Chase Dominguez and LB Uaea Masina.

Quarterback Travis Wilson had his second career 300-yard passing game and his third career 200-yard passing game, going 17-for-28 for 302 yards passing. He threw for two touchdowns.

Jake Murphy scored his sixth career touchdown in the first quarter on a 30-yard reception. He finished with two catches for 41 yards.

Dres Anderson scored his seventh career touchdown in the in the first quarter on a three-yard catch. He had two catches for 59 yards.

Karl Williams scored his first-ever touchdown on a two-yard run in the third quarter. He finished second on the team in rushing with 12 carries for 46 yards (both career highs).

James Poole led Utah in rushing with 12 carries for 47 yards in his first career game.

Leading receivers Anthony Denham and Sean Fitzgerald each had career highs in receiving yards. Denham finished with six catches for 113 yards (including a career-long catch of 51 yards) and Fitzgerald had five receptions for 79 yards. 

Kicker Andy Phillips, playing in his first-ever football game (he did not play high school or youth football, used to play soccer and is a former member of the US Ski Team), made a 45-yard field goal in his first attempt. On the subsequent kickoff, he completed a successful onside kick that would lead to a touchdown. Phillips was 3-of-3 in field goals for the night - he also made field goals of 19 and 38 yards in the fourth quarter.

Eric Rowe had a team-high 10 tackles, his fourth career game in double-digit tackles.

Nate Orchard tied his career-high with eight tackles, including three tackles for loss and a sack. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. 

Punter Tom Hackett dropped three of his five punts inside the 20-yard line.

Attendance is 45,237, Utah's 19th-straight sellout dating back to Utah's 2010 season opener vs. Pittsburgh.
