Utah has won four-straight games against BYU and nine of the last 12. Utah leads the series with BYU 57-34-4, although the Cougars don't recognize six games (split equally 3-3).
Utah started both Jake Murphy and Westlee Tonga, the Utes first time starting two tight ends this season. Mike Honeycutt (nickel back) and Viliseni Fauonuku (defensive line) each made their first career starts.
Travis Wilson had his sixth career 200-yard game, throwing for 273 yards (24-of-35) with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
James Poole had a career-long rush of 65 yards in the first quarter. He had 18 carries for 96 yards in the game and 118 yards of total offense which included 22 receiving yards (five catches).
Dres Anderson had a career-long 74-yard reception in the second quarter. He has his third-straight 100-yard game of the season and has a career-high 141 yards receiving (eight catches).
Anthony Denham scored his first career touchdown in the second quarter on a one-yard reception.
Karl Williams scored his second career receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter on a two-yard reception. He also has a rushing touchdown this season.
Andy Phillips remains perfect in kicking on the season, going 2-for-2 in field goals (36 yards and 32 yards). He was also 2-for-2 in PATs to raise his season total to 21-of-21.
Tom Hackett punted 11 times, which is tied for the second-most all-time by a player and is the most since Louie Sakoda had 11 punts against Oregon State in 2007. Utah's 11 punts are tied for the third-most in a game at Utah, and the most since the Utes had 11 punts against Utah State in 2012.
Tom Hackett had a career-long 61-yard punt. He punted 11 times for 486 yards for an average of 44.2 yards per punt. He dropped three punts inside the 20 and three punts inside the 50-yard line. He dropped a punt at the three-yard line in the first quarter, his fifth career punt inside the five-yard line and his eight career punt inside the 10.
Jared Norris led Utah with nine tackles, a career-high.
Utah earned its first interception of the season in the fourth quarter with 1:37 remaining in the game, when Michael Walker had his first career pick.
