Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham
"There was no production in the throwing game. We lost some scoring opportunities on offense, we missed some field goals. Ka'Deem Carey really took it to us again in the second half. He was really one player against us that made a difference in this game. We were flat in the first half. In this conference, you can't come out and be not ready to play. We weren't ready to play in the first half. In the second half, we came out with some fire, did some good things. We fought our way back in the game and took the lead, but my final analysis of the game--we didn't make enough plays to win the game."
On the team's inconsistency on third downs:
"We're not really good on third downs. We were five of 18 tonight and that's still not good enough. We need to convert two or three more. That continues to be an area of weakness for us. It wasn't as bad as it was in some weeks, but still need to work on it."
On team playing first quality team on the road:
"We have to be able to play on the road. To be a quality football team, you have to win on the road. We can't just win at home and not come through on the road."
On quarterback Adam Schulz coming into the game :
"Adam came in and gave a valiant effort. He made a couple of plays, a couple of nice throws, he didn't turn the ball over and took care of the football."
Utah senior linebacker Trevor Reilly
On the contribution to the loss tonight:
"We gave up two drives that we shouldn't have given up. All around we were soft and it really set the tone for the game."
On toughness of defending Ka'Deem Carey:
"He doesn't stop. You have to make sure you wrap and roll with him because he just does not go down. He's one of those backs that always leans forward and gets a couple more yards."
On coming off their biggest win in Pac-12:
"It stinks pretty bad. It's a road trip, so we have to get on the bus and plane. I haven't seen the film yet, but just watching the game, we gave away the game just by our soft start in the front. It was ours for the taking, I thought we matched up well with them. Defensively, we weren't as good on defense in the first half."
On consecutive stops of Arizona defense:
"Our guys got it together and we barely missed any tackles. We had them on third down and we had an assignment issue that led to a touchdown. The game was won in the first half, looking back at it."
Utah sophomore quarterback Adam Schulz
On what was going through his mind when got called in to play:
"Make plays. Coach says when someone goes down, pick up the rife and that's all that was going through my mind."
On the positives of the game:
"I don't expect anything less than this team pulling together. We've done it through summer and spring and we've worked too hard to do anything other than that."
Utah senior wide receiver Sean Fitzgerald
On quarterback switch:
"As an offense, we have all the trust in Adam [Schulz]. He's a great player, and we know what he is capable of."
On coming off the Stanford win:
"I don't know what the reason behind it is. We came out flat. It felt good to beat Stanford, but that was a week ago, which is a long time ago in football time. We will try to figure out what went wrong this week and move on."
On getting ready for USC:
"We are going to make sure, throughout this week in practice, to not come out flat and be ready for USC next week."
