Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham
"We struggled in the first half in every phase, other than the punting game, but other than that there wasn't much going right for us. In the second, we came out and did some nice things. We had some offense generated. The storyline is too many missed opportunities in the second half. There were some field goals we didn't make. The surprise onside kick was there, it wasn't executed. The ball was there, we just didn't fall on it. On the throwback punt return, we had the whole sideline open but we just couldn't quite get the throw off. Then we fumbled when we crossed midfield and had momentum. The ball just popped up so we had a turnover in that situation. We also took a couple sacks near the red zone and had the ball in scoring position. We had a lot of things that we didn't do well enough in the second half. You have to credit Colorado. They had a good game plan. They were one of the more effective teams this year, as far as moving the ball both on the ground and in the air. Our inability to run the ball was another factor in the game. That's not us. If we're going to win a game, we have to have a physical running attack. It's a big part of what we do. There were a lot of issues tonight, but with all that being said, we still had chance at end of the game, but couldn't find a way to get it done. I'm very proud of our seniors. They had a very good year as far as how they responded to some of the things they went through. We ended up 7-5. That's not our deal, but if they hadn't been who they were, this season could have been a lot worse. I'm proud of the way they handled themselves. They've won a lot of football games for us. We have one more chance to play together, I'm fairly certain of that. We don't know where, but we'll find out in the next week or so. We just have to keep moving forward. Like I said, there were too many missed opportunities in second half."
On what he expected from Colorado:
"Colorado didn't do anything different than we expected. They mixed up their play-calling. I said all week long that if [Tyler Hansen] gets hot, he can be effective. We let him escape too much. We did get decent pressure on him, but we let him escape. One issue with our defense is keeping quarterbacks contained like we need to. [Hansen] was able to extend the play a few times tonight."
On the season as a whole:
"There was some good and some bad this year. Obviously, we got off to a bad start in conference play, rallied to win four in a row, but lost the last one. Overall, we're going to a bowl game. There are a lot of positives to take away. I learned a lot, particularly about the Pac-12 Conference. Overall, there were some positive things to draw from this season. It wasn't great, but there were some positives."
Colorado Head Coach Jon Embree
"Our goal coming in here was to end our road losing streak, and that is what we did. It feels awesome."
"I am happy for our kids. Four years of not winning on the road has come to an end. We have a tradition of singing our fight song when we get off the airplane and now these kids will get to do that."
"I told the kids thank you for taking the big stain off of our program that has accomplished so much in the past."
"I told Tyler [Hansen] to go out, relax and have fun. He played great today."
"This was a great crowd and environment. The fans were great and Utah showed great hospitality."
"Towards the end of the game, a lot of things happened. Every time I thought we had it sealed, we had a mistake to keep them in it."
"Our defense played great. Utah only had two drives that hurt us. We did a good job bringing pressure and containing finally this week."
"It is hard to win on the road, as we have shown the previous four years. Utah was playing for the Pac-12 South, potentially, and to win in that situation is great."
"Utah is a great team. Them and USC are the hottest teams in the conference right now. To have a chance to play for the South means you have something."
"The four year sting has finally been taken off our program."
